What Are You Going to Say?

For a long time, I held on to the notion that all I wanted at the end of my life was to hear God say: "Well done, my good and faithful servant!"

Imagine my surprise when God asked me one day, "Well, what are you going to say?"

It took me a few days to answer, but when I did, I laughed hysterically and blurted out (Jn 17:4), "I am going to say...I glorified you on earth by completing down to the last detail what you assigned me to do!"

To make this bold statement, I had to embrace that I am one of those "Insanely Gifted" Christians and give myself permission to be and do what God created me for. My spiritual director helped me do that. If you are here maybe just maybe, you are finally ready to stop running away from your fearfully and wonderfully made self due to fear of being misunderstood.  I would consider it an honor to walk with on this phase of your journey.

Spiritual direction is a relational process in which a trained spiritual guide listens to and companions someone who desires a deeper relationship with God.

SPIRITUAL DIRECTION

Spiritual direction is a key discipline for Christian leaders which offers a safe place for attending to one's ongoing process of transformation and surrender to God. As Thomas Merton says, "The whole purpose of spiritual direction is to penetrate beneath the surface of a man's life, to get behind the façade of conventional gestures and attitudes which he presents to the world, and to bring out his inner spiritual freedom, his inmost truth, which is what we call the likeness of Christ in his soul" (Spiritual Direction and Meditation).

DISSERTATION & DOCUMENTARIES

I am currently in the research and writing phase of her dissertation. The hypothesis/quesion I hope to answer is, "Is use of biblical story a pedagogy for spiritual formation? My research hypothesis is that biblical narratives could help with the process of spiritual formation by creating a climate for

1) connection

2) empathy

3) faith development

4) participation

5) transformation

It is such an honor to use every creative gift (storytelling with a camera) God has bestowed upon me to complete this research.

I would love it if you joined me so we can help others consider the value the Bible places upon story and the unique power story has in communicating some of God’s most important truths.

"Let me start off by saying that I absolutely love Shonda!  She speaks directly to me.  As a Christian and creative myself, I must admit that I’ve wondered where I truly belong in God’s plan.  I find myself almost running away from the first I know that I have, in order to avoid the misconception of how I must do or say things.  She brings so much light to the struggles of loving God, the desire to do His works, but the uncertainty of how to move forward.  The knowledge that she offers, tying the Word with your points of view, offered a clear understanding of what creativity truly is"

"Omg! Shonda you get it! You get the disconnect that the church has with the world. I love that you bravely stepped into the gap and spoke the truth. God is creative. He is the author of creativity! People are what pervert his standard, however, everything that may have a different toon doesn’t make it “secular” or “sinful”. I believe we today as the body of Christ can benefit from this very teaching! Outstanding job lining up the fact to defeats the lies we have been taught."

I saw Shonda speak live the first time at the I Am Enough in Christ women's conference.  She was amazing! Her message was the woman at the well with Jesus.  We as women think because we have baggage like the woman at the well that Jesus won't even talk to us.  Shonda dressed up like the woman wrote out words on name tags that we think of ourselves, put them all over her face and outfit.  This was a great visual of ho no one is perfect and Jesus loves us the way He made us.
